Full Stack Engineer

At DIY.ORG we’re on a mission to create the place on the internet, where kids can be creative, create their own community, and explore their passions and interests. We’ve got a fun few months coming up of building magical & fun creative tools for kids, as we scale by more than 1,000 new sign-ups every week.
We’re looking for a Full stack Engineer - slightly more specialised in backend, to help us continue building a scalable, secure, and delightful experience for families and schools around the world.
The Role
As a Full stack Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing and maintaining the systems that power AstroSafe. You’ll work closely with our product and frontend teams to build robust APIs, manage data efficiently, and scale our infrastructure as usage grows.
You’ll also help evolve our AWS infrastructure using Terraform, contributing to the foundation that supports our rapid growth. There will be times when you’re hands on too with our next.js front-end
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js
- Manage and optimize relational databases (MySQL and PostgreSQL)
- Build and manage infrastructure-as-code using Terraform on AWS
- Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
- Monitor, debug, and optimize backend performance
- Collaborate across teams to ensure smooth releases and scalability
- Contribution to DevOps and reliability best practices is appreciated!
- Help support the frontend team keep their high standards in next.js
We’re based in London but we’re happy to employ fully remote. We’re recruiting across skill levels for this role so we can discuss the appropriate salary for your level of experience.
