Who We Are
Healthcare needs a better rhythm: one that keeps care continuous and deeply human. Heidi is building an AI Care Partner that works alongside clinicians to make that possible.
We’re a team of doctors, engineers, designers, researchers, and creatives building tools that help clinicians stay focused on what matters most: their patients.
In just 18 months, Heidi has given back more than 18 million hours to healthcare professionals — supporting 73 million patient visits in 116 countries. Today, more than two million patient visits each week are powered by Heidi worldwide.
Backed by nearly $100 million in funding, we’re growing in the US, UK, Canada, and Europe, partnering with leading health systems including the NHS, Beth Israel Lahey Health, and Monash Health.
The Role
We’re seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join our Mobile team and lead the development of our first native Android applications. You’ll bring Heidi functionalities into the hands of clinicians, working closely with our iOS engineers and product designers to deliver seamless, beautiful, and secure mobile experiences.
You’ll be responsible for architecting and building Heidi’s Android app from the ground up, ensuring it is robust, scalable, and optimized for performance.
This includes integrating on-device machine learning models using frameworks like TensorFlow Lite or ML Kit for healthcare features such as real-time image analysis or clinical decision support, and leveraging Compose and other Jetpack libraries to ensure maintainable, modern code.
You’ll manage the full Android development lifecycle-from setting up CI/CD pipelines and automated testing to optimising for different device configurations and ensuring compliance with privacy and security standards essential in healthcare.
Experience with Kotlin and native Android APIs will be crucial.
You’ll also play a key role in cross-platform collaboration, knowledge sharing, and mentoring as we grow the mobile team.
What you’ll do
Architect and develop Heidi’s first Android app, taking it from concept to launch
Define the Android mobile infrastructure and best practices for future functionality and team growth
Collaborate with our iOS engineers to ensure cross-platform consistency and knowledge sharing
Integrate on-device ML models to enable real-time AI features
Work closely with design and product teams to deliver pixel-perfect, intuitive UIs
Ensure compliance with healthcare privacy and security standards (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.)
Continuously optimise app performance, reliability, and security
What we’ll look for
5+ years of professional Android development experience, fluent in Kotlin and Android ecosystem SDKs
Deep knowledge of native Android APIs, Compose and other Jetpack libraries, and modern architectural patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture)
Experience running ML models on-device (TensorFlow Lite or similar) is a strong plus
Familiarity with RESTful API integrations, offline storage, and performance tuning
Experience submitting and maintaining apps on Google Play
Some exposure to iOS (Swift UI) and willingness to collaborate closely with our iOS team
Strong problem-solving skills, ownership, and a detail-oriented mindset
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, flat-structured, and high-agency environment
