Who Are Heidi?

Heidi is building an AI Care Partner that supports clinicians every step of the way, from documentation to delivery of care.

We exist to double healthcare’s capacity while keeping care deeply human. In just 18 months, Heidi has returned more than 18 million hours to clinicians and supported over 73 million patient visits.

Today, more than two million patient visits each week are powered by Heidi across 116 countries and 110+ languages.

Founded by clinicians, Heidi brings together clinicians, engineers, designers, scientists, creatives, and mathematicians, all working towards a shared purpose: strengthening the human connection at the heart of healthcare.

Backed by nearly $100 million in total funding, Heidi is expanding across the USA, UK, Canada, and Europe, partnering with major health systems including the NHS, Beth Israel Lahey Health, MaineGeneral, and Monash Health.

We move quickly where it matters and stay grounded in what’s proven—shaping healthcare’s next era. Ready for the challenge?

About the role

We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer to help us unblock our current testing bottleneck and raise the overall quality bar across the product.

This is not an automation-only role. Manual testing will always be a core part of this position.

Test automation already exists in the product and is currently primarily owned by the engineering team. Once the manual testing bottleneck is resolved, QA will become more actively involved in driving and expanding automation efforts, in close collaboration with engineers.

What you’ll do

  • Work closely with Product Managers and Engineers to identify gaps in requirements, clarify acceptance criteria, and challenge unclear assumptions.

  • Take ownership of testing as the current bottleneck, ensuring features are thoroughly tested before release.

  • Design and execute high-quality test scenarios (functional, regression, exploratory, and end-to-end), with a strong focus on edge cases and risk areas.

  • Write test cases using BDD principles (Given / When / Then) so they are automation-ready in the future.

  • Act as a quality advocate, owning test execution, bug reporting, and clear communication of risks and test outcomes.

  • Validate fixes, collaborate with engineers on root-cause analysis, and ensure issues are fully resolved.

  • Contribute to improving QA processes, test strategies, and release quality standards.

  • Once the manual testing bottleneck is resolved, gradually become involved in test automation efforts, working with engineers to design and implement automated tests.

Automation (shared ownership, future-focused)

  • Test automation already exists and is currently led by the engineering team.

  • At this stage, automation is not the primary responsibility of QA due to the manual testing bottleneck.

  • When QA involvement in automation increases, you’ll help design and implement automated tests using tools such as Playwright, BDD with Cucumber, or similar frameworks.

  • Until then, your key responsibility is to ensure manual test cases are designed in a way that makes future automation straightforward.

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years of experience as a Senior QA Engineer.

  • Strong, hands-on experience in testing for complex products.

  • Deep understanding of BDD concepts, with experience designing test cases in Given / When / Then format.

  • Proven ability to identify product risks and design targeted, risk-based testing strategies.

  • Experience working closely with PMs and Engineers in fast-moving environments.

  • Comfortable handling high workload and ownership-driven responsibility.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to dig into issues and identify root causes.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain testing outcomes, risks, and quality concerns to engineers, PMs, and stakeholders.

  • Basic to intermediate experience querying databases (e.g. SQL) to support testing and investigation is a plus.

  • Experience with automation tools (Playwright, Cypress, Cucumber, Appium, etc.) is a strong plus, but not required.

Non-negotiable expectations

  • Manual testing will always be part of this role.

  • This is not an automation-only position.

  • Candidates must be comfortable leading manual testing efforts first and contributing to automation later.
