Transaction Monitoring Manager

Location: Delhi, India

Experience: 10+ years

Position Overview

The Transaction Monitoring (TM) Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end monitoring of transactional activity across the products and jurisdictions in which Tazapay operates. This role ensures that all alerts generated by automated monitoring tools are reviewed, escalated, and documented in alignment with internal processes and SOPs.

The TM Manager leads a team of analysts, maintains the integrity of the TM tools and rulesets, and acts as a key liaison between stakeholders (MLRO/product) to continuously enhance detection, escalation, and reporting workflows. The TM Manager must be very proactive, analytical thinking with great leadership skills to oversee day to day tasks of analysts and foresee needed enhancements for systems or processes.

This includes anticipating emerging risk patterns, enforcing high-quality standards, and maintaining audit-ready documentation across all monitoring activities.

We expect the TM Manager to take full ownership of the team, ensuring team members do more than simply resolve alerts - they think critically, investigate deeply, challenge inconsistencies, and proactively seek improvements to processes and systems rather than treating the role as a routine task.

  • Ensure proper classification and prioritization of alerts.

  • Oversee investigations into unusual, suspicious, or high-risk transactions.

  • Conduct periodic back-testing, tuning, and calibration of rules to balance sensitivity and false positives.

  • Maintain strong documentation around rule changes, risk assumptions, and decision logs.

  • Identify gaps or inefficiencies in the TM tool and propose enhancements.

  • Document approvals in change of thresholds, rule logic change, addition and retiring of non-relevant rules.

  • Proactively identify the need for new rules, change for current ones and separate regulatory requirement based alerts from product/internal risk based alerts.

  • Provide proactive suggestions on any needed changes for TM systems, rules, SOP’s or anything else

  • Ensure rule changes follow a structured, auditable change management process.

  • Partner with data teams to improve data visibility, enrichment, and quality feeding into the TM system.

  • Perform periodic false positive ratio analysis to drive rule optimisation.

  • Collaborate with vendors on advanced automation opportunities and improved match logic.

3. Documentation

  • Ensure analysts maintain complete, audit-ready documentation in case files, including rationale for disposition, supporting data, and escalation notes.

  • Oversee quality assurance sampling and reviews.

  • Ensure adherence to internal SLAs for alert review, escalation, and closure.

  • Prepare needed SOP’s to make sure analysts have step by step guides for their daily work

  • Implement structured feedback loops to address recurring documentation or investigation gaps.

  • Maintain reporting dashboards covering volumes, trends, SLA performance, and quality metrics.

4. Team Leadership & Training

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of TM Analysts and Senior Analysts.

  • Provide training on typologies (e.g., mule networks, layering patterns), tool usage, and best-practice investigative techniques.

  • Ensure the team’s continuous skill development.

  • Establish workflows, SOPs, and consistency across alert handling.

  • Train on the need of various types of RFI’s and the requirements for its analysis

  • Set clear KPIs, quality standards, and enforce performance expectations.

  • Promote a culture of professional scepticism, ownership, and high accountability

  • Plan capacity, resource allocation, and succession to maintain strong operational coverage.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Engineering/product for data visibility improvements (logs, risk indicators, enrichment).

  • Work with Product teams to design new features improving monitoring coverage and reporting.

  • Building new, comprehensive dashboards for data visibility

  • Constant collaboration with vendors on needed changes, enhancements, search for automation possibilities

  • Provide intelligence back to risk scoring models, merchant review teams, and onboarding teams to strengthen upstream controls.

  • Partner with MLRO and FCC to prepare for audits, exams, or regulatory queries using monitoring insights.
